Future of Minority Studies National Research Project

FMS Discussion Forum

The FMS Discussion Forum is a new initiative sponsored by graduate students and junior faculty affiliated with the FMS National Research Project.

The goals of the forum are the following:

• To provide an informal setting, during our national FMS gatherings, for scholars interested in discussing scholarship that develops realist approaches to minority studies and politics;

• To organize occasional panels foregrounding work-in-progress;

• To encourage conversation among scholars at different stages of their career (including undergraduate, graduate students, and faculty).

This year, the FMS Discussion Forum is hosting three open sessions: (1) an informal reading group discussion session on realist theory, intellectual, and subaltern politics, (2) a panel presentation entitled “Realist Theory in the World” addressing anti-imperialist movements, and (3) a roundtable session on “Mentorship, Minority Studies, and Minority Scholars.”
